Personal Pages We now have an area for Personal Pages in our Wiki. Now you can have your own page on our site. Complete instructions are located here on how to use the Wiki to create a page. Personal_Pages Server Died You may have noticed that our site was down for a few days. This was due to a catestrophic hardware failure. We ended up replacing the server and fortunately was able to save most of our software especially our web server files. We still have a few bugs to work out with the new server which could cause the site to be down from time to time but all in all we aren't in too bad of shape. In a nutshell the system drive failed and took out the bios on the motherboard (which we didn't realize at the time). When we put the failed drive into a different computer to try and salvage the data that computer bios became corrupted, And yes, we took out another 2 computers in the process. With that drive we lost a year of data and email 1 server and 2 desktop computers. Needless to say it was a very costly weekend. Considering we earn next to nothing from advertising it all came out of pocket. Stay tuned for another cool feature coming besides the Incident Map which had to take a back seat for awhile. Please click the Donate button if you would like to help us defer costs. Incident Map Our incident mapping is about halfway there. You may check it out HERE and follow our progress.
In work: What We're Working On NC-Firefighter is working on two features.1. We are still waiting on the Calendar writers to finish the new Calendar Plugin. This will provide Groups and Categories along with a Site and Personal calendar. Therefore you will be able to not only create your on Personal Calendar but you'll also be able to create a calendar for your Department and more. 2. We are also working on a new incident reporting module/plugin which uses Google Maps to plot the location of fire incidents. If all goes as planned you will be able to pull up a Google map and show incidents (which were entered) for a given area and date. This project just started so don't look for this to happen real soon. My goal is to have it ready by the end of April. Calendar Currently NC-FireFighter.com does not have a Calendar Function, that is about to change. A new Calendar Function has been in the development stages for about six months. The feature request that i had was Group Calendars to go with the Site Calendar and Personal Calendars. I hope to begin Beta Testing in the next week or two.
What will this mean to you? Also in this release will be the ability to set up reoccurring events. County Wiki Pages |
